ServiceCrown vs Fergus for New Zealand trade businesses
A factual look at how ServiceCrown and Fergus differ for a New Zealand trade or service business: how each prices a growing team, what each plan includes, and where the accounting integrations differ. Fergus facts are sourced from Fergus's own official NZ pricing and feature pages.
The short version
Both ServiceCrown and Fergus are New Zealand-priced, GST-aware job management products. The clearest structural difference is how each charges for a growing team: ServiceCrown's price is one price per business, with no per-user fees, within each plan's technician and job limits, while Fergus lists plan prices and separately charged timesheet and contractor users. Fergus standard pricing is shown here; promotional discounts may be available from time to time. On accounting, Fergus connects with Xero and MYOB for invoice and payment information; ServiceCrown's Xero export is a manual, one-way draft by design, so ServiceCrown stays the source of truth for the job record, and ServiceCrown does not support MYOB. (Facts checked 15 October 2026; verify current pricing and any promotion directly with Fergus before deciding.)

Pricing structure, in detail
ServiceCrown's technician limit is built into the plan price: Starter includes up to 3 technicians, Pro up to 10, Business unlimited, with no extra per-user charge — timesheets, including weekly approval and a payroll-ready CSV export, are part of every plan rather than a per-user add-on. Fergus lists plan prices separately from timesheet and contractor user charges; confirm the full-user and role mix with Fergus when budgeting — Fergus's own pricing page lists timesheet users from NZ$26/month and contractor users at NZ$4/user/day at standard prices. A business should add up its expected number of field users under each model rather than compare the headline monthly price alone. See ServiceCrown's exact plan limits.
Jobs, quoting, invoicing and job costing
Both products cover job management, scheduling, quoting, invoicing and job costing. ServiceCrown's versions of these are described on the job management, quoting and invoicing and job costing pages. Accepting a ServiceCrown quote never requires payment. A business can request upfront payment after acceptance; customers can also pay invoice balances online, with prior quote payments credited. Funds settle directly to the business’s connected Stripe account. Fergus describes job costing as helping "pinpoint which jobs are most profitable," on its own features page.
Accounting integrations
Fergus sends approved customer invoices and processed supplier invoices or credits to its connected accounting package, and accounting payment updates return to Fergus. Its documentation lists Xero and MYOB. Sync direction depends on the record: customer edits in the accounting package do not automatically flow back to Fergus. ServiceCrown's Xero integration is a manual, one-way draft export — you choose when to send an invoice to Xero as a draft, and ServiceCrown remains the source of truth for the record itself. ServiceCrown does not currently support MYOB.
Which may suit smaller NZ businesses?
A one or two-person operation that wants timesheets, field evidence and an AI assistant included from the start, with no per-user add-on to track, may find ServiceCrown's per-business pricing simpler to budget; recurring jobs are on ServiceCrown Pro and Business. ServiceCrown for a sole trader or small crew.
Which may suit larger teams?
A business already invested in MYOB for its accounts, or that needs accounting payment updates returned to the job system, may find Fergus's integration model a better fit regardless of team size. A business whose team size changes often may prefer ServiceCrown's flat technician-tier pricing over tracking a per-timesheet-user add-on as staff come and go.
