ServiceCrown vs Tradify for New Zealand trade businesses

A factual look at how ServiceCrown and Tradify differ for a New Zealand trade or service business: pricing model, what each plan includes, and where the two products are actually built differently. Tradify facts are sourced from Tradify's own official pricing and feature pages.

The short version

The biggest structural difference is pricing: ServiceCrown charges one price per business, with no per-user fees, while Tradify charges per user. A per-business price changes only when you move to a plan with higher technician or job limits; a per-user price changes with every seat. Both cover the core job-to-invoice workflow. Tradify reserves recurring jobs, job costing and timesheets for its Pro tier and above; ServiceCrown includes timesheets on every plan; its recurring jobs and job costing are on Pro and Business. Tradify has documented Xero and QuickBooks integrations; ServiceCrown's Xero export is a manual, one-way draft, by design, so ServiceCrown always stays the source of truth for the job record. (Facts checked 15 October 2026; software pricing changes, so verify current prices directly with each vendor before deciding.)

All subscription prices are NZD per business per month, including GST. Tradify's listed New Zealand prices are per user per month, excluding GST. Neither list is a complete feature inventory — see each vendor's own pricing page for full detail.

How the pricing actually differs

ServiceCrown's three tiers (Starter, Pro, Business) are each one price for the whole business, with limits on technician count and monthly job volume rather than on who gets a login. Tradify's published Lite, Pro and Plus tiers (with a Custom option also listed) are priced per user, so a team of five pays five times the per-seat price on top of choosing a tier. Neither model is objectively better — a flat per-business price is simpler to budget for a growing team; a per-user price can cost less for a very small, occasional user base. See ServiceCrown's exact plan limits.

Job and scheduling workflows

Both products cover the same shape of work: a customer, a job, a schedule, a technician on their phone. ServiceCrown keeps the job's status, schedule, time, quote and invoice on one record from the first request through to invoiced. How ServiceCrown's job lifecycle works.

Quoting, invoicing and job costing

Both quote before the work and invoice after it. ServiceCrown's quote-to-invoice path and job costing are described in full on the quoting and invoicing page and the job costing page. Accepting a ServiceCrown quote never requires payment. A business can request upfront payment after acceptance; customers can also pay invoice balances online, with prior quote payments credited. Funds settle directly to the business’s connected Stripe account. Tradify's job costing and bill tracking are part of its Pro tier and above, per Tradify's own pricing page.

Recurring work and field evidence

ServiceCrown generates recurring jobs automatically from a schedule on Pro and Business, and lets technicians attach validated, scanned photo evidence to a job from their phone on every plan. Tradify includes recurring jobs from its Pro tier up; its official pricing page also lists job photos and files from Pro upward.

AI and integrations

ServiceCrown's AI Assistant answers from the business's live jobs, schedule, customers, quotes and invoices, prepares sensitive actions for the owner's confirmation, and keeps an audit history — on every plan. How ServiceCrown's AI works. Tradify's AI tools ("SmartRead for Bills" and "SmartWrite") are listed on its Plus tier and are described as assistance with bills and written content. On accounting integrations, Tradify has documented Xero and QuickBooks integrations; ServiceCrown integrates with Xero only, as a manual one-way draft export, and does not currently support QuickBooks.

Which may suit a sole trader?

Both have an entry tier a sole trader can start on. ServiceCrown Starter is NZ$39 a month for the business, including GST; Tradify Lite was listed at NZ$48 per user per month, excluding GST, when checked on 15 October 2026. The practical difference is what's included: ServiceCrown's Starter includes timesheets with a payroll-ready export and field evidence, with recurring jobs and job costing on Pro; Tradify's Lite does not include recurring jobs, job costing or timesheets — those start at Tradify's Pro tier. Compare each entry tier against what you need from day one, using each vendor's current price list. ServiceCrown for a sole trader or small crew.

Which may suit a growing team?

This is where the pricing models diverge most. ServiceCrown's price per business stays the same as the team grows within each tier's technician limit — Pro is NZ$89 a month for up to 10 technicians, and Business (NZ$149) has no technician limit — while Tradify's per-user price rises with every added seat. A business adding technicians should model both on its own expected headcount rather than compare the lowest list price alone.

Moving from Tradify

ServiceCrown does not currently offer an automated data migration from Tradify. Customers and technicians can be brought into ServiceCrown through CSV import; open jobs, quotes and invoices would need to be re-created or entered by hand rather than imported automatically. If a clean cutover matters to your timing, plan for that manual step.
